Evelina London House: Our Charity of the Year!

We are delighted to announce that we will be supporting Evelina London House as our chosen charity this year. Run as an independent charity, Evelina London House is one of 12 similar houses across the UK all partially supported by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The House provides accommodation and practical and emotional support to parents with a child undergoing treatment or surgery at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Last year, the charity supported 339 families through their child’s hospital stay at Evelina London, with the longest stay lasting nearly a year. It provides 59 purpose-built bedrooms, as well as private spaces, shared bathrooms and kitchens, all located just a five-minute walk away from the Hospital, as well as support from trained staff and volunteers. It allows families to remain close by their child without the often prohibitive cost of private accommodation or the stress of long daily commutes.

Our Managing Partner, Andrew Flannagan, commented: “We are looking forward to raising money for such an important cause and to help as many families as possible be there for their children. It costs an average of £400 to accommodate a family at Evelina London House and so all donations are desperately needed. We can’t wait to get started with this year’s programme of fundraisers and to donate as much as we possibly can to this wonderful charity.”

He continued, “There were a huge number of worthy charities to choose from this year, and so we will also be donating generous sums of the money we raised during the COVID-19 pandemic to Herts Young Homeless and Streets to Homes, which came second and third in our vote. We would choose them all if we could!”
