Diversity
As a full service law firm, we welcome clients from all walks of life and with a wide range of legal needs. In order to do our jobs and meet those needs effectively, we have to embrace diversity in all its many forms.
We recruit candidates who show talent and drive innovation, who have the right attitude and who we think will deliver an excellent client experience. Our ethos is always that the experience, energy and passion somebody brings to our firm is far more important than their qualifications, where they went to university, their religion, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or anything else!
Equality
We want all staff to enjoy equality of opportunity – but we understand that not everybody is setting out from the same starting blocks. Everybody’s individual circumstances are different, and they’ll need different resources in order to get to the same place. To achieve equality in our business, therefore, equity must come first.
We assess each staff member’s needs on an individual basis and put in place a support structure that enables them to excel. For a disabled colleague, this may mean providing extra equipment to help them do their job effectively. It might mean enabling our colleagues who observe Ramadan to adjust their working hours while they are fasting. Or it might mean sponsoring a staff member to undertake the particular training or qualification they need to take their next step up the career ladder.
Here are just a few of the ways we help our staff to feel welcome and included:
- We are signatories of the Law Society’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter, demonstrating our public commitment to developing and implementing best practice in equality, diversity and inclusion.
- All staff receive annual EDI training.
- As an inclusive employer, we are happy for our staff to add their preferred pronouns to their email signature, should they wish to. Adding pronouns to your email signature has the practical benefit of clarifying how you would like to be referred to, while also signalling to the recipient that you will respect their own gender identity and choice of pronouns.
- All offices have gender neutral toilets.
Essentially, we want all our staff to feel comfortable at work and to have the support they need to do well. As well as being the right thing to do, it simply makes good business sense. If our employees enjoy great job satisfaction, they’re less likely to take their talents elsewhere and they’re more likely to do excellent work that benefits our business and our clients.
Inclusion
Discrimination has no place at Attwaters Jameson Hill. We work hard to ensure that everybody feels included in the company’s success, that they feel empowered to share their views and ideas, and that they feel valued through career development opportunities and a competitive benefits package that caters to their financial, physical and mental wellbeing.
