Mediation is increasingly being used to help couples resolve issues arising from the breakdown of their relationships. If both parties agree, a qualified neutral and independent mediator will help couples discuss their concerns and disputes. This can be a quick and convenient way to resolve problems. We can help you identify suitable, local mediators if mediation is right for you.
Any issues can be dealt with during mediation but commonly mediation is used to consider arrangements arising from separation, divorce, property and money issues and agreeing arrangements for children. A mediator cannot make decisions for couples but can facilitate discussions and help explore solutions however mediation may not suit all couples.
Come to us
We support our clients throughout the mediation process. This includes advising on any financial documents exchanged during any disclosure process, giving pointers about what to look out for and what documents to request from the other party, to make sure you get all the information you need.
We also advise on the range of possible outcomes, what offers you may want to make during the mediation process and help you establish clear parameters for settlement. We act as your sounding board, enabling you to consider any offers in complete confidence, to safely explore the pros and cons to help you focus on the best outcome.
If an agreement is reached, we will help you with the legal formalities. We prepare the court documents you need to make sure your agreement is properly recorded in a Financial Remedy Consent Order.
We will also assist with any pension sharing arrangements, record any parenting plan or updating your Wills once mediation has ended.
