We’re a law firm with a difference. We care just as much about what our employees get out of working for us as we do about what they put in.
For us, it’s a no brainer. A team that enjoys great job satisfaction will be more engaged, more ambitious and more dedicated to excellence than a team that feels undervalued, unappreciated and overworked.
In a recent staff survey:
- 100% of our staff said they were proud to work for Attwaters Jameson Hill
- 96% of our staff said they felt they had achieved a positive work/life balance
- 96% of our staff said they felt their views were listened to
- 93% of our staff said they enjoyed a good relationship with their line manager
- 89% of our staff said they were satisfied with their working environment
Attwaters Jameson Hill invests in its employees because it makes good business sense. And here’s how we do it.
Excellent client care
We’re proud to say that every single one of our lawyers is a specialist in their field. They don’t dabble in areas they’re unfamiliar with because it’s not fair on our clients and it’s not fair on them. We’re proud that every single client who comes through our doors gets access to up-to-date, market-leading advice and can feel confident that their matter is in safe hands.
When you join Attwaters, you know you’ll be joining a firm at the forefront of the legal profession.
We care about your physical and mental health
We believe in looking after our team’s mental, as well as physical, health. To promote this focus in our business, seven of our team have received Mental Health First Aider accreditations and are now championing a positive and supportive approach to mental health in our workplace.
The MHFA Champion course from MHFA England gives participants the awareness and skills they need to become MHFA Champions. It means that our team members are now qualified to recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues and provide initial support.
This accreditation represents an important step towards building a mentally healthy workplace, playing a major role in ending stigma and discrimination around mental health at work.
All of our employees are covered by our Employee Assistance Programme, which provides them with access to free, confidential advice about any personal problems that may be adversely impacting their work performance, health or wellbeing. Employees are also enrolled into our healthcare cash plan as soon as they have completed their probationary period.
Each of our offices has a designated Social and Wellbeing Champion whose job it is to organise events and initiatives designed to keep their team healthy. Lunchtime social walks and picnics, step challenges, book groups and charity cake bakes are just some of the initiatives our Social and Wellbeing Champions have introduced to help our staff maintain a healthy relationship with work, and to build great relationships with their colleagues.
We promote a healthy work/life balance
No matter how ambitious you are in your career, you also have a life to live. We support our staff in developing a healthy work/life balance that suits them.
This could mean a hybrid working arrangement (currently around 65% of our employees split their time between home and the office) or adjusted hours so you can do the school run without worrying. It certainly means that we don’t expect you to work every waking hour just to get ahead.
We nurture your ambitions
Some of Attwaters’ Partners joined the firm as office assistants or trainees, working their way up through the ranks to become renowned experts in their field. When it comes to your career, we want you to feel like the sky’s the limit.
Over the years, we’ve sponsored dozens of employees to study for qualifications that have enabled them to take their next step on the career ladder. If it will benefit you in your role, we’ll consider it – and nothing’s off the table. Below is just a snapshot of the professional qualifications we’ve sponsored:

We give back
As a leading regional business, we are very aware that we have a responsibility to give back to the communities we have proudly served for so many decades
Each year, we choose a Charity of the Year to direct our fundraising efforts, which is selected through a staff vote. This year our staff choose the Rainbow Trust as our COTY, they provide emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Our staff are also encouraged to get involved in a range of local initiatives throughout the year, including donating to local food banks and working with the Citizens Advice Bureau to provide free legal advice for those most in need of it.
